Engem fivéreim eladtak,
Mint öszvért vagy tevét.
Ép fogam büszkén mutogatták
És dicsérték setét
Izmaim - durván tapogatva...
A szennyes mérlegen
A kufárok között vacogtam,
Mint barmok, meztelen.

Most finom íbisztoll-ruhám van.
A körmöm rózsaszín.
Rabszolgahátakon tapodnak
Teknőcbőr-saruim;
Mert bűvész vagyok s álomfejtő!
Szent-macskatetemek
Zsírjával kennek, hogy feledjem
Az ostort s mérleget.

Kövér galambbal kedveskednek...
De eladott cseléd,
Ha szólok, megvert öszvér ordít!
S a számból vad tevék
Tolongnak s hét sovány tehén bőg
Szomjazva áradó
Folyódat, tömlőd s ivorkancsód
Borát is, Fáraó!
