Hajnal Éva: Seven Haikus (Hét haiku in English)

Portre of Hajnal Éva
Portre of N. Ullrich Katalin

Back to the translator

Hét haiku (Hungarian)

nagy a távolság
az elme és a szív közt
leküzdhetetlen
*

amikor  tiéd
nem is vonz amint nálam
látod sóvárogsz

*

gyakorta látod
elesettnek önmagad
okulárét le

*

mesteri ütés
te nem hibáztál arrébb
tették a lyukat
*

gondolataim
lázongó vadmadarak
megszelídíthetsz
*

 belopódzott a
csönd a végtelen éjbe
együtt hallgatunk
*

 lehajtott fejű
napraforgók méláznak
Vincent már nem jön

Seven Haikus (English)

huge is the distance
between the mind and the heart
it is invincible

*
whenever it’s yours
you don’t mind it, seeing it’s
mine, you crave for it

*
you very often see
yourself miserable-wretched
off with your glasses

*
brilliant stroke it was
not your fault in fact just the
hole was put elsewhere

*
all of my thoughts are
rebellious wild birds you can
domesticate me

*
silence has crept in
this everlasting night we
keep quiet together

*
the sunflowers with their
heads turned down are pondering
Vincent just won’t come
