Hajnal Éva: dóri house (dóri ház in English)

Portre of Hajnal Éva

a szomorúságnál kata elsírta magát
mert most halt meg a nagymamája
egyből elment a mennybe
aki messze lakik

aunt julcsi said today
that not all small children are healthy
and those who are very-very ill
can stay in dóri house with their mothers
their rooms are there and their toys are there
and sadness is there with them
hearing the word sadness kata started to cry
because her granny had just died
she went straight to heaven
she won’t ever make pancakes again
and won’t tell her tales
and kata can’t write letters to her either
because uncle laci the postman can’t go there
because it’s too high up
and it also made me very sad
so much that i felt at least four lumps stuck in my throat
and i couldn’t swallow them
just like when peti told us
that his dog it was a family member and had died
it was seven years old just like peti and they buried it in the garden
and peti put a bone on its tomb
and also his teddy-bear
and then after he had slept five nights
he got a new dog to cheer him up
but it always reminded him of pisze and it made him cry
so this new little dog was given to aunt joli
who lives far away
i’m sure my grandmother won’t die
tomorrow i’ll tell her
