az a nap olyan volt
mint a kislány a piacon
a sarokban ült és babrálta a zokniját
szakadt koszos zoknit babrált
több helyen lyukas zoknit több sebből vérzőt
babrálta és közben mintha mormolt volna valamit
egy távoli világ dallamát vagy ritmusát
vagy csak egy dallam vagy ritmus foszlányait
nem lehetett pontosan érteni mit
egészen úgy mormolta
mintha a szakadt koszos zokniért tenné
az a nap olyan volt
ült a sarokban egy repedezett falnak dőlve
felismerhetetlenül koszos ruhában
igen
azt a napot csak ugyanígy tudnám leírni
mintha
szakadt koszos zoknit babráló
mormoló kislány volna az a szerda
amikor megloptál

that day was like
the small girl at the market
sitting in the corner plucking at her socks
she plucked at the torn and filthy socks
that had so many holes and a lot of other flaws
she plucked at them and murmured something
the tunes or rhythm of a faraway world
or rather some tiny bits of a tune or a rhythm
couldn’t be guessed what exactly it was
she murmured
as if she did so for the ragged socks
that day was like it
she sat in the corner leaning against the cracked wall
in such filthy clothes you can hardly imagine
yes
the only way i can picture that day
the girl who murmured and
plucked at her filthy socks
the wednesday
