Hajnal Éva: tomorrow it's tuesday again (holnap újra kedd in English)

Portre of Hajnal Éva

Back to the translator

holnap újra kedd (Hungarian)

kedden a madárbolt mellett jöttél haza

vásároltál egy madarat

kilyuggatott stanecliben pátyolgattad hazáig

az öreg kalitkába tetted

először riadtan kiáltozott

majd apró fejét forgatva ismerkedett új helyével

teljes összkomfortot teremtettél neki

gyakran beszélgettek

szinte megtanultál madárul

.

azon tűnődöm

milyen jó volna ha néha nekem is szórnál eleséget

veled szeretném oltani a szomjam

nélküled nem tudok repülni sem

.

két napja a madárkereskedésben lakom

otthonos kalitkát választottam magamnak

ezüstöt

mert az a kedvenc színed

először riadtan kiáltoztam kicsit

most apró fejemet forgatva ismerkedem új helyemmel

teljes összkomfort

reménykedem

holnap újra kedd

tomorrow it's tuesday again (English)

on tuesday you walked home past a pet shop

and bought a bird

all the way home you pampered it in a bag with holes in it

you put it into the old cage

first it screamed terrified

then turned its little head around to see the new place

you made perfect comfort for it

often you both keep chatting

you’ve almost acquired bird-language

.

i ponder sometimes

how much I’d appreciate if sometimes you tossed me some seeds, too

i’d love to quench my thirst with you

i simply can’t fly alone without you

.

i’ve been living in a pet shop for two days now

i chose a cosy cage for myself

silver

it’s your favourite colour

first i screamed a little, terrified

now i turn my little head around to see my new place

perfect comfort

i cherish a hope

tomorrow it’s tuesday again
