     Illatja rozmarinnak,
Mézíze a fügének,
És a rukerc pirossa
Szájunknak és szemünknek
S orrunknak is mi kellő?

     Hát még, ha egyesűlnek
E kedves érzések? -
Ímé, az ért cseresznye
Mely édes és piross is,
A sárgadinnye szagja
Nárdus, s az íze nektár:
A rózsa színe bíbor,
S illatja fínom ámbra.

     De rozmarinnal együtt
A kis rukerc, fügécske,
Cseresznye, sárgadinnye
És rózsa öszveséggel
Van elvegyítve a szép
Szamóca bíborában.
Szép színe drágalátos,
Mézíze szájat enyhít,
S illatja a velőkre,
Mint egy nepente, felhat.

     Kedves szamóca! téged
Én, - én az isteneknek
S az istenasszonyoknak
Tennélek asztalára.
Sőt csak beszélni tudnál
És csókot adni, mindjárt
Hasonlatos lehetnél
A Lilla ajjakához.

     Fragrance of rosemary,
The honey taste of figs,
And the red of marguerite daisies,
How appealing these are to
Our eyes, mouths, and noses?
   
     And how much more
When these winsome feelings combine?
Lo, the ripe cherry,
Which is both, sweet and red,
The smell of cantaloupes
Is like nardus, its taste is nectar:
The colour of the rose is deep red,
Its scent fine ambergris.
 
     Together with rosemary,
The small marguerite daisies, figs,
Cherries and cantaloupes,
And all the roses
Are mingled in the beautiful
Deep red of strawberries.
Its fine colour is precious,
Its honey taste relieves the mouth,
And its scent, like nepenthe,
Affects the very marrow.
 
     Dear strawberry,
You I would put upon
The table of the gods
And goddesses.
And what is more,
If you could only talk and kiss,
You could be directly likened
To the lips of Lilla.
