Juhász Gyula: Caress in thought the child… (A gyermeket, ha alszik... Angol nyelven)

A gyermeket, ha alszik... (Magyar)A gyermeket, ha alszik, simogasd meg Egy gondolatban, mint bársony virágot, Mely szirmait bezárta. Boldog éden Ringatja most szelíden messze, messze A nap zajától és a föld porától. Egy nagy aranykaput nyitott ki éppen, Melyet kerubok őriznek dalolva, S lábujjhegyen a smaragd rétre indul, Arany mezőre és ezüst patakra. Már mosolyog. Már visszatért megint Oda, ahonnan eljött s földre tévedt. Előbbi életének társai, Kis szöszke angyalok közt hancúroz most, Szivárványszín labdákkal kergetőznek És jázminokkal verik arcul egymást, Örök narancsot esznek, s nem mulandó Babákat ajnároznak égi hintán. Most elhervad a mosoly ajka szélén, S búsan gügyög: kis társai szaladnak, S ő fölbukott az ébredés göröngyén, És földet ért ismét. Már sír az édes.

Caress in thought the child… (Angol)Caress in thought the child if it's asleep, As if it were a velvet flower With its petals folded. A happy Eden Dandles it gently now, far, far removed from The noises of day and dust of earth. Just now it opened a great big gate of gold, Guarded by carolling cherubim, And starts towards the emerald field on tiptoe, The golden meadow and the silver brooklet. It’s smiling now. It reached again the place From whence it left and came upon to earth. It's romping now midst tiny flaxen angels, Companions of its former life, They're playing chase with balls of rainbow colours And slap jasmines on one another's faces, Eat eternal oranges and gently play With everlasting dolls upon a swing of heaven. Its smiling lip begins to fade now, It babbles sadly: the small companions ran Whilst it toppled over on the clod of waking, And reached earth again. The sweet one’s crying now
