Isten kezében (Magyar)
A júniusi napnak záporában,
Mely aranyat nyilaz álmatagon,
Lyukas nadrágban és kehes kabátban
Öreg csavargó alszik a padon.
Körülötte az élet dele forr, zúg
És robognak a ringó gépkocsik,
Ő lógó fejjel más világba fordúl
És egy boldog májusról álmodik.
Elnézem én gyöngéden és irígyen,
Az élete és padja oly kemény,
De ő most végtelen puhán, szelíden,
Bizton pihen az Isten tenyerén. |
In God's palm (Angol)
A June day's downpour is filling the ditches, Sleepily shooting its arrows of gold, Clad in a worn coat with holes in his britches, On a bench, sleeping: a hobo, quite old. Surrounding noon-life boils, rumbles all around, And motorcars, they dash, change course and sway, Head low, he turns to another world he found To dream about some happy days in May. With envy I observe him, and yet fondly, His bench, his life – they both are hard and odd, But now he rests so gently, ever softly, And safely in the caring palm of God.
