Páskándi Géza: Anyu, lenyeltem a tűzoltózenekart
Anyu, lenyeltem a tűzoltózenekart (Magyar)Mennyi zene a romlásban, uram!
Gyermekkoromban oltják a meszet, kender rohad, bugyborékol mocsár, s béka vartyog, mintha beleimben.
Mennyi zene, mennyi zene, s mikor lesz vége egyszer.
A gőzök fegyvertényei. A hamvadás fortélyai. A szüret rikoltásai.
Édesded must zsibolyog kád jászlában. Vén szőlőtőke zörren kopár gyászában.
Mennyi zene a romlásban, uram.
Mennyi zene a mellemben, uram.
Minek dómok kongásáért, dzsungel-dobok tamtamjáért messzebeli utazás, midőn itt a mellem táján közel s kicsiny a világ.
Kísértet-kastély. Szellemorgonái: öreg dohoknak dohogási, penész-lepkéknek suhogási, s micsoda baglyok huhogási! Mifene pán ugrál miféle sippal, Mily’ kacskaringós egy trombita tusakodik polippal?
Mennyi zene!
Világ tején szívta a kottát, s mint buborékot - most visszafújja.

Mum, I swallowed the fireman's band (Angol)Lord, what a lot of music in decay!
In my youth the lime was slaked, hemp was rotting, marshes bubbled and toads croaked as if within me.
There snow's spine was dully cracking - then raindrop sounds, like the scratching of some tabby on a door post, at some other place somewhere.
Who’s that madman, who cannot feel All that music in decay. The way Death incants in whispers by its kettle in the change. What a lot of music’s there in dying. Then summer in a flash. Small town decay. A tiny child listens to its gut: "Mum, I swallowed the fireman's band!" What plethora of music, when will it all end.
Audacious puffs of steam. Shift sounds whilst embers gleam. A harvest’s every scream.
Sweet must in a vat-manger is making rumbling sounds. An old wine-stock’s rustle with barren grief abounds.
Lord, what a lot of music in decay! I lie down – the bed creaks, And in my chest are tiny railroads, pointsmen the size of poppyseed, and coffee-grinder locos each going off somewhere.
No, not somewhere But only to a reed-bed, where the winds blow and not wolves with boundless hunger, but well-nourished wolfhounds do the howling.
Lord, what a lot of music's in my chest!
What use is all distant travel for the ding-dongs of cathedrals or the jungle beat of tom-toms for within my breast the world is tiny, and it’s not remote.
Haunted castles. Ghostly organs: musty smells for ever grousing, sound of mould-moth ever rustling, and what lot of owlish hooting! What Pan keeps on bouncing, fluting, And what kind of curly-twirly trumpet tussles octopus?
All that music! Comes from my ribcage. I listen. But my youthful head will not get into this costly club. And yet, my Lord, this band is mine! I did swallow the lot of them after all! Well I remember it: The fireman's band came first of all, then those railways by the score, widowed picket, crib, babe and more, and then the baying wolfhounds and spooks that play the flute sounds, like Etna's throat did Empedocles - I swallowed all the fire, water, and every other element.
Well, don't be surprised when the band blows tunes from inside you, outward in the main. With milk of the world it suckled the score, and now, as bubbles, returns it again.
