Sebestyén Péter: Szicíliai védelem

Sebestyén Péter portréja

Szicíliai védelem (Magyar)

Most földrészeket rajzol a parti homokba. Városokat és fákat és városok kincseit. Királyt és gyermeket, az utolsó patkányt is. Sivatagot vés a sebesült anyagba mikor a tajték hátrahord minden kihagyott szívdobbanást.

Sicilian defense (Angol)

Now he draws continents into the sand. Towns and trees and treasures of the towns. King and child, the last rat even. He chisels a desert into injured matter as the froth carries every left-out beat of the heart to the rear.  A desert, so the angels can line up in the centre of it, the fallen ones, the good ones, and those who disassemble the moments of the world. He accuses himself, here and now, and also when blossoms remain unpollinated and the Medusa is praised by women's hair. He draws all conclusions, even those which are of no concern to anyone or anything.

He sees that the whole world, everything he had scraped into besieged memory, exists. The angels venture to the edge of the waters, the ocean is no longer the realm of the deep, and the first interrogation begins. They take down the shortest confession that can be recorded, one that is either a poem or truth itself. Five minutes, less perhaps, and the tide is rising, the town's walls stand and soak, inside layers of matters and a tower, on top of which a clock attempts to count palm trees, the salty foam, and every sand-grain of the fortifications of solitude in vain.
