Tóth Árpád: The chestnut-tree pagoda (Gesztenyefa-pagoda Angol nyelven)
Gesztenyefa-pagoda (Magyar)Mint halk csapatban szürke nyest, A hegyre kúszik már az est, S a bokrok alján meglapul: Itt-ott egy-egy halk fény kigyúl, S a vak bozóton átremeg: Lámpák vagy bús állatszemek? Kék fák közé most jer velem, Hol minden árny és rejtelem, És minden mély törzs mély csoda, Nézd! gesztenyefa-pagoda! Lombja mélyén egész sereg Zeg-zug, mint száz szentély-üreg, S bent apró virágoszlopok Halvány ivor-szine lobog. Üljünk le itt e szent helyen, Öledbe hadd tegyem fejem; Agyamban alszik gond, szitok, Most áhitatot áhitok, Szárnyat, röpítőt és puhát, Levetni a bús test-csuhát, Nehéz szivem elejteni, A fájó Én-t felejteni.

The chestnut-tree pagoda (Angol)Like grey and quiet martens will, The night's now climbing up the hill, Cowers neath bushes, then one might See here and there some muted light Quivering through the undergrowth: Are they just lamps, brute eyes, or both? To yonder blue trees come with me, Where all is shade and mystery, And hollow trunks filled with wonder… - Chestnut tree-pagoda yonder! In its canopy full and round, Niches for holy things abound, Inside the flower poles in queues Are fluttering with ivory hues. Let's sit here on this holy step, Accept my head upon your lap; Worries and curses sleep in me, Now I would wish for piety, Wings that are soft and make you soar, Shedding this body-robe, and more: Letting go of my heavy heart, Let thoughts of Hurting Self depart. So! Stroke my head and gently muss, With hands like once Veronica's, Don't mind the sounds the owlet makes, And that the moon to shelter takes, Just rock me gently, soft and still, Until the tears begin to spill, And with waking - wonderous action - comes amazing resurrection…
