Berlin felé (Hungarian)

Szélkerekek és fenyők
Keresztezik az eget.
A nap sehol. Esik.
Ferdén szitál, hidegen.
Sápadt az ég, almásderes.

Halványkék szalag
Süllyed. Szabálytalan
Rést üt a szürkébe,
Majd eltűnik nyugat felé.
Jó lenne látni

A porcelánangyalok
Festetlen fejét. Sokszor
Kiégetett, csontkemény
Arcuk finoman porlik
A meszes púder alatt.

Towards Berlin (English)

Windmills and pines
are crossing the sky.
The sun is nowhere. It rains:
A slanting, cold drizzle.
The sky is pale and dappled.

A sinking light-blue ribbon
Makes an uneven
Gap in the grey,
Then vanishes westward.
It would be nice to see

Porcelain angels with heads unpainted.
Their bone-hard faces,
Fired many times,
Mouldering gently
Beneath the chalky powder.
