Kamarás Klára: Thoughts in a graveyard (Gondolatok a temetőben in English)

Portre of Kamarás Klára

Gondolatok a temetőben (Hungarian)

Virágot – mondd – hová vigyek?
Porát sem őrzi senkinek
e föld, e fű… e temető.
Nyomunk elmossa az idő…

Kevés a hely, és minden üzlet!
Eltakarítják őseinket.
Hamvasztva, szórva, és egyéb
álszent divatból van elég.

A „nagy nevek” hullája szent,
kövükre vésnek cifra jelt,
a többit keresheted sírva…
Hová lett a rabszolgák sírja?

Thoughts in a graveyard (English)

Do tell, where will my flowers lie?
The dust of none is guarded by
these graves, this grass, this yard of clay.
Our traces time will wash away…

We lack the space, trade rules the day!
Our forebears soon are cleared away.
Cremate, scatter: choice mosaic
of fashions quite pharisaic.

The "greats" have sacrosanct remains,
carved are their steles and fancy reigns,
in tears you're left to seek the rest…
Where have the slaves been laid to rest?
