Iancu Laura: At home (Otthon in English)

Portre of Iancu Laura

Otthon (Hungarian)

Fejem felett vagy még?
– ostoba minden szó –
a tér elalélt, hová vesszek?

A házunk falán reszketegen
meg-meg jelentél – ne tagadd!
agyaggerenda bordáidon
átsütött ég, átsütött nap.

Az almafák alatt hagytál,
hullott rám szirom, hullott hó.
Valamely falon bizton lógtál,
ha más nem is: hullott dió.

At home (English)

Are you still above my head?

- silly these words are for sure -

space is a daze, where to from here?

Wobbling at times you did appear

upon our walls - now don't deny!

The clay girders that are your ribs

filtered the sunlight of the sky.

You left me 'neath the apple trees,

petals and snow covered my all.

You hung out elsewhere, too, I think,

be it naught else, some nuts did fall.
