Nemes Nagy Ágnes: To hell (A pokolhoz in English)

Portre of Nemes Nagy Ágnes

A pokolhoz (Hungarian)

Kivilágolt, üres villamos.

Katonakórház.

Egy kovácsműhely volt itt valaha.

Egy apró, szürke hókupac.

Az elhagyott gyerekjátszótér,

a hinta lánca.

Üres pályaudvar. A villanyóra

éjfélt mutat.

(Éjszaka: görögdinnye kipontozva)

To hell (English)

Brightly lit, empty streetcar.

Military hospital.

There used to be a smithy here before.

A small, grey pile of snow.

The deserted playground,

chain of the swing.

Empty railway station. The electric clock

shows midnight.

(Night: letters in "watermelon" replaced by asterisks)
