ülnek itt, ők, ketten,
férfias közöny, nőies elragadtatás
szavak nélküli, beszédes párosa.
 
Szerepcserére nincs,
nem is volt mód, soha,

in the cruel depths
of a mirror-walled café-booth…
it would appear, no one observes
the great things unfolding.
 
For eighty-four years
they sat there, those two,
a wordless, expansive pairing of
male detachment and female rapture.
 
There is no chance of a change of roles,
and there has never been…
