Déry Tibor: Mother (Anyám Angol nyelven)
|
A vonalak mögött ünnepély fénylik. Ül a legalsó lépcsőn, tejet iszik és csöndes tenyeréből kiszórja a gyerekeket a küszöb elé. Meghal.

Mother (Angol)braids her thin hair and can’t see any shine in it her breath is uneasy worried she’d try to find some balm for her feet but has no time keeps bustling about my forehead so hastily throws fire and bread on my days milk-white stars overshone her path but she side-stepped and waded in sand she tore the wounds off my body and squeezed them under her pillow to let them burn her thin face and stir up her hip
There’s no star at night, only a tall angel stands stiff-backed and ladles blood into her heart. Behind the lines a bright feast shining. She sits on the lowest stair, drinks milk and scatters the children from her silent hands outside the doorsill. She dies.
